About MSF
Richard Foster begins his classic Celebration of Disciplines with the following lines. “Superficiality is the curse of our age. The doctrine of instant satisfaction is a primary spiritual problem. The desperate need today is not for a greater number of intelligent people, or gifted people, but for deep people. “ As parents we so often think about helping our children grow smarter, wiser, and more responsible, but we rarely think about our responsibility to help them grow deeper. Our job as their parents and spiritual guides is to help them “deepen their souls,” to know and experience God and love and serve others. This site is designed to help us think as parents how to tap into ancient traditions that fit our modern lifestyles. We will have ideas for modern activities, outings, music, resources, etc that correspond with the various seasons and various age groups.
